Online/ phone Behaviour and Training Consultations

Phone/ online Behaviour Consultation

These are available while the coronavirus pandemic prevents indoor face-to-face sessions taking place, but they are also likely to remain an option in the future for those who live outside of Sarah's normal working area.

If your pet has had a sudden change in behaviour, or it involves aggression, it's best to have a chat with your vet to make sure there isn't an underlying health issue.

£50 option:

- behaviour consultation form (see below) filled out and emailed or posted to Sarah

- additional questions answered via email (preferably) or post, if Sarah feels she needs more information

- a 40 minute conversation on the phone or via Zoom

- a detailed behaviour report/ training plan will then be emailed (or posted) to you, based on the information given

- you then have the opportunity to ask questions about the plan via email/ post

- a 20 minute conversation on the phone or via Zoom to discuss progress/ difficulties

- the opportunity to email (for a month after the consultation) if you need extra advice on the issues covered

- a 40 minute conversation on the phone, where Sarah will ask you lots of questions about your dogs behaviour, and will offer advice about how to improve things

- a 20 minute phone conversation a week later, to check on progress and offer further advice

Fees are payable by a cheque in the post, or bank transfer. Details of how to do this will be given when you have requested a consultation. Please note that payment needs to be received before the first phone/zoom conversation.

Face-to-face Behaviour and Training Sessions

NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE, DUE TO THE NEW LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS.

Behaviour Consultations

Please note - hour long behaviour consultations are not currently available - you will need to arrange a phone consultation.

Sessions are based on understanding why your dog/ horse/ cat is behaving the way they are, and finding solutions that work for both of you. Sarah will be training you, rather than your pet. Dog behaviour sessions will include practical training, depending on the issues presented. However, there is no practical training element for equine behaviour sessions.

If there has been a sudden change of behaviour, or if it involves aggression, it is recommended that you get your pet checked by your vet first, to make sure there isn't an underlying medical issue.

Please note that Sarah's 'working area' is Tonbridge/ Tunbridge Wells/ Sevenoaks, and the areas in between. If you live further away, meetings can take place at a local park or suitable cafe.

Appointments are available in the morning or afternoon.

Behaviour sessions are 1hr long, and cost £70. Payment can be made on the day by cash or cheque, or in advance via bank transfer.

A summary of the consultation will be emailed or posted to you afterwards, which will include recommendations, and an individual training plan. You will have the opportunity to email/call Sarah with any questions you have.

You will receive a follow up email or phone call about two weeks after your consultation, to check on progress.

Please contact Sarah for more information.

One-to-one Puppy Training

Please note that Sarah's 'working area' is Tonbridge/ Tunbridge Wells/ Sevenoaks, and the areas in between. If you live further away, meetings can take place at a local park (for puppies who are fully vaccinated and allowed out).

Training will be outdoors wherever possible. If training has to be done indoors, face coverings (eg a visor) will need to be worn, and windows/ door will need to be open.

Social distancing rules apply: so I will be directing you to do most of the training, but I will demonstrate/ train your puppy when necessary.

Appointments are available in mornings and afternoons.

Basic training is covered, as well as dealing with common puppy problems.

If you have a friend with a similar aged puppy, you can have a joint session to share the cost (social distancing rules apply).

Please contact Sarah for more information.

For puppies aged 6 months and under.

30 mins - £25 - NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE DUE TO THE NEW LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS

Behaviour/ training sessions

- Social distancing rules will be in place, so rather than me training your dog, I will be directing you to do the training.

- If I feel you will require specific equipment, I will tell you this before booking the session, to give you time to purchase it (as I will not be able to lend it to you during the session).

- Please note that Sarah's 'working area' is Tonbridge/ Tunbridge Wells/ Sevenoaks, and the areas in between. If you live further away, meetings can take place at a local park

- Sessions will be outdoors whenever possible, either in a park, large garden, or other outdoor space. However, if the issues presented are shown indoors only, indoor training can take place with face coverings being worn by those present, with windows/ door opened.

- If you, or anyone in your family, or bubble, has symptoms of coronavirus when the session is due to take place, or are isolating, a face to face meeting will not be possible, and a phone consultation will need to be arranged instead.

- These sessions will cover basic obedience training, as well as helping you to improve any issues that you are experiencing.

- If your dog is exhibiting extreme or complex behaviours, a phone consultation will be required first.

For any dog aged 7 months and over.

Sarah's Training philosophy

To help our pets, whether that's dogs, cats, horses or smaller pets, we first need to help ourselves. That's why training sometimes doesn't work on it's own. It's a frustrating aspect of life to realise that we have to change ourselves, in order to change those around us, whether that's people or animals.

Taking time to understand an animal's behaviour is very important, but that applies to your own behaviour as well. Your pet isn't able of tell you why they're acting the way they are: you have to do some detective work, and change some of the things you're doing. You can't force them to be perfect, in the same way that others cannot force you to be perfect. But if you can change, then you can cause your dog/ horse to change too. The key is discovering how to do that.

Sarah will help you discover the causes of your pet's behaviour, and guide you towards solutions that will make life easier (and hopefully more rewarding), for both you and your pet. Because all things in life are connected, Sarah may also take a more holistic approach, for example looking into diet and routines, and the relationship between you and your pet. This is why Sarah sometimes calls herself an 'animal behaviour life coach'.
